A discovery flight (sometimes called an introductory flight or intro flight) is a short, beginner-level flight experience designed to introduce people to flying. It’s often the first step for someone interested in learning how to fly or exploring aviation as a hobby or career.
What Happens During a Discovery Flight:
- Pre-Flight Briefing:
- A Hewison Aviation instructor explains the basics of the aircraft, controls, and what to expect during the flight.
- A safety overview is given, including how to use seatbelts, headsets, and emergency procedures.
- Hands-On Experience:
- While one of our Hewison Aviation certified flight instructor (CFI) handles takeoff and landing, you may be allowed to take the controls during the flight under the instructor’s supervision.
- You’ll get a feel for how the aircraft responds and learn some basic maneuvers.
- A Scenic Tour:
- Hewison Aviation discovery flights include scenic routes, allowing you to enjoy stunning views from the cockpit while experiencing the thrill of flying.
- Post-Flight Discussion:
- After landing, your Hewison Aviation instructor reviews the flight, answers questions, and explains the next steps if you’re interested in pursuing flight training.
