What is a Discovery Flight?

Discovery flights, also known as an introductory flight or a demo flight, is an experience Hewison Aviation offers to individuals who are interested in learning how to fly an aircraft. During a discovery flight, one of our FAA Certificated Flight Instructors will take you on a flight lesson, usually lasting around 1-hour, to provide you with a taste of what it’s like to pilot an aircraft and learn to fly.

Our instructors explain basic flight principles, demonstrate maneuvers, and will allow the participant the opportunity to take control of the aircraft under close supervision. Discovery flights are used as a way to introduce people to aviation and to gauge their interest in pursuing further flight training. It is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are considering becoming a pilot to experience flying firsthand before committing to formal flight lessons.
